The Catholic Family Associations in France are demonstrating next Sunday (19th of January) in Paris, against the review of the “bioethical laws”, which have been voted by the National Assembly in October, and will be voted by senators on the 4th of February.

With this revision, medically-assisted procreation will be available for same-sex couples and single women, depriving children of their fathers.

In addition, this law plans to broaden embryo research conditions, to authorize the creation of chimeric embryo, to allow the preimplantation diagnosis to detect, among others, people with Down’s syndrome, and to encourage the trafficking of human tissues and cells.

The French Catholic Family Associations, along with 22 other associations, will demonstrate on Sunday, to strongly recall that the development of a society can be judged through the way it respects its smallest and its most fragile members. We are asking:

  1. The withdrawal of the bill;
  2. The implementation of a precautionary principle regarding human procreation and filiation;
  3. The development of a policy seriously addressing the issue of infertility;
  4. The abolition of surrogacy and any commodification of the human body worldwide.
